DVC’s men’s water polo team hosted a game against Fresno Oct.7, in which the Vikings triumphed, winning 17-8.

“We killed ‘em,” said coach Roemer following the match.  “The game was great.”

The Vikings’ record now stands at 14-2, and the team is ranked fourth in the state.

“We are just really, really good this year,” said Roemer.  “We have really good sophomores and a couple really good freshmen.”

The Vikings had a tournament this past weekend in Sacramento in which they defeated Southwestern and Mount Sac, whose team is ranked 10th in the league.

The game against Sacramento went into 7 overtimes, including five sudden deaths.  The winning goal finally scored by T.J. Britton after more than two hours of play.

“It was the longest game ever,” Roemer said.

Goalkeeper Nick Michels received the game ball after making some crucial stops in OT.

Other notable players include Matt Detrane, last year’s MVP, Danny Boessenecker, and sophomore Taylor Herman.  All of whom, along with T.J. Britton are expected to be named all-American this year.
