After a physical three days, the Vikings pulled out a win Sunday against San Jose City College to capture the Chevron Invitational title. DVC never trailed during the entire game and answered every San Jose run to emerge victorious 63-54. Point guard Gary Pinkney paced the Vikings with 15 points, 11 of them coming in the first half, with the starting frontcourt of Jordan Fillmore and Anthony Turner pitching in eight and 10 points respectively.
After sticking with the No. 6 - seeded Solano College the entire game, a penalty kick in the 89th minute doomed DVC and ended the Vikings season in a 2-1 loss. Having finished the regular season with a strong 2-0-1 record, DVC qualified for the playoffs and was looking at a lower seed.
