Where else could you find the parody "Hell Date" or "Desperate Husbands"? "There's no limit to how much fun we have," said first-semester student Russell Barnett. "It's so hands-on I don't even bring a pen to this class." The class is "Broadcast Production," which meets once a week and includes beginning, intermediate and advanced students all in one classroom.
When former Anne Breedlove and her husband told friends and family they were going to bike across North America, they were met with shock and dismay. "The vast majority of friends, family and co-workers genuinely believed [we] had gone off the deep end," she said.
Five years ago, Francisco Hinojosa almost dropped out of school. He was struggling with classes and didn't feel connected to the college But that changed after he was stopped by a member of Students Encouraging Support and Solidarity and invited to join the club.
Bundit Kertbundit just may be the busiest student at DVC, but you wouldn't know it from his expression. His ready grin offsets a full schedule as a student and student-leader. The 19-year-old DVC student has an innate quality of leadership that has repeatedly made him a prime candidate for top positions in governing councils.
He could walk in, do his job and go home every day. But that is not Guy Grace's style. DVC's buildings and grounds manager makes it a point to be involved with students, even serving as an adviser to clubs, a task usually undertaken by faculty members. "He really goes out of his way to help someone out," says Norm Haukaas, an office assistant at the buildings and grounds department.
