Nicholas Bernard won a tight three-way race for controller by a 45-vote margin, receiving 383 votes to Elizabeth Elizabeth's 338 votes and Viktor Vorontsov's 336.

Clarice Halim is the new parliamentarian with 566 votes, pulling ahead of Sky Yip's 480 votes. "Wish to serve" will be her motto during her term in office, she said.

Lok Tin Cheng won the five-way public relations race with 422 votes, edging ahead of Arina Semionenkova ( 263), Joyce Tan (189) and Roongroj Thurdnampetch (180).

Beatrice Halim defeated Kelly Lin for the office of minority affairs 436 to 249.

"People from many backgrounds can work together to achieve a common goal," said Halim, who hopes to promote culture awareness during her term. "I know what it's like to be a minority, and what [minorities] face."

Angela U narrowly defeated Alice Lei 495 to 487 for the office of activities coordinator. And webmaster-elect, Keiko Ohashi received 597 votes to Ivan Lai's 427 votes.

Though pleased with the voter turnout, ASDVC officers blamed lack of awareness for the low student-to-voter ratio at DVC, a campus of more than 20,000 students.

Kertbundit said promoting the ASDVC web-site will help raise this awareness.

"I've heard many students ask, 'What is ASDVC?'" Kertbundit said. "It's a huge, huge problem for DVC."
